  1. These people are living in the self imposed hell of their own imagination. Or they’re just writing made up shit for trad wives, fascists, and nazis to consume.

  2. Doesn’t… toast properly? Can’t be sliced thin? I hate people.

I would like to live in the world where crappy mass produced bread is hard to find and sourdough is the norm. Sadly, unless you live in Europe, that is not reality (even in Europe, most bread is not naturally leavened).

  4. My sourdough starter is fully aware of the systemic injustices that have kept people in this country from reaching their full potential.

She is _very_ upset that the pathogens in raw milk are having a moment in the sun with the current HHS leadership.

She sounds like she’s from England (based on word choices), which has not historically been a bastion of flavor.

I’ll take some of this on the chin, but… woke?

What on earth is woke about having a pet yeast colony and using it as a raising agent?

  7. alayeni-silvermist

Regular yeast sandwich bread is like 5 ingredients and 2 hours time. Get baking pal. 🙄🙄

Some folks need to get out more.

  8. Adiantum-Veneris

I take it that conservatives ran out of things to pretend to be mad about once again?

  9. iamchuckdizzle

Big “stop enjoying things I don’t” energy on this one.

I’m in a small, not particularly wealthy town in the UK and I can get everything from the sourest, chewiest sourdough to the blandest white slices and everything in between within half a mile of my house. Shops everywhere are full of boring white bread sandwiches. It’s almost like she just made it up for ragebait or something 🙄

Edit: looked her up and she’s a Brexiter and a member of a far-right party, total surprise there /s

I’ve now become dumber having read that 😑

  12. “So I went to the farmers market and stopped at a stall full of artisan sourdough bread and couldn’t find a single loaf of supermarket bread at all. “Woke!”” 😉 FFS lady, go to the supermarket and shut up…

Welp…. Sourdough is woke. I can honestly say this is one I never thought I’d hear. Who hurt these ppl.

  15. Euclid1859

I’m not trying be political here, but how is bread “woke?” Lol. It’s bread. It’s like saying that ash tree on the boulevard is woke.

  16. MoeSzyslakMonobrow

I know what some of those words mean.

  17. Gullible_Special2023

This reads like the old “create a medieval insult!” meme. I’m not sure where she’s getting grey sourdough that tastes “fusty” (whatever the shit that means). Poncy porus plimsoll sounds like a Dr. Seuss description so I don’t even know what to do with that…

  18. EnglishWhites

“Bread is overcomplicated and unnecessary now!” said the woman throwing unnecessary and overcomplicated words into her complaint.

  19. This is performative rage bait, just ignore and she’ll hopefully die from lack of publicity.

  20. MayBeMilo

Huh? At my local big box grocer the bread section is half an aisle long. Plenty of mass produced bread there.

  21. Mezcal-only

Imagine writing an essay because your taste buds maxed out at cafeteria white bread

  22. mickey_kneecaps

They still sell wonder bread at the shops though. In fact it’s still the cheapest, easiest to find bread by far lol.

  23. strandy76

She knows there’s more than one type of “bread” right?!

  24. I don’t know who this person is and I don’t think I want to.

  25. im_bi_strapping

Bland white bread is everywhere. Sourdough is not making basic bread unavailable, or causing the inflation that is making butter more expensive.

  26. B-MoreFats

Buy whatever bread you want. JFC has everyone always been so whiny?

  27. Poopbutt_Maximum

    Sourdough is woke LMAOOOOOOOO

These people are insane but this got a good laugh out of me.

  28. AlpacaLocks

When the ‘tradition’ types have no idea what actual tradition entails

  29. Mid-CenturyBoy

People who use woke to complain about stuff always come off as extremely unintelligent and they don’t like that the world changes or that things don’t fit their small bubble of what is good or acceptable so they just boil it down to being woke and bad.

And somehow other people are the annoying ones lol
